A day trip to Lonavala can be quite refreshing! Here’s a suggested list of places to visit.
I couldn’t visit all the below-listed locations rather I just decided to spend a beautiful evening at Tiger Hill. It was super relaxing and so much energizing. The sunset was breathtaking and clouds in the sky made it magnificent. I have tried to put down a few beautiful places that you must try to visit when in Lonavala.
Things to do: When in Lonavala
Bhushi Dam: Enjoy the scenic beauty and take a refreshing dip in the cool waters of Bhushi Dam. Monsoon season is the best time to visit here. You’ll need to walk through 1-2 feet of water in a few areas to reach the Dam. Weekends are crowded so you can plan on weekdays. Sitting on the steps with water flowing around you will be a great experience.
Rajmachi Fort: Trek to the historic Rajmachi Fort and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and hills.
Tiger’s Leap and Loins Point: Experience the thrill of standing at the edge of Tiger’s Leap, a cliff-top point that offers breathtaking views of the valley below. The most famous viewpoints of Lonavala hill station are located just 10km away from the city. Lions Point and Tigers Point, are both very close to each other. This place is in mid-way between Bhushi Dam and Aamby Valley. The area has good parking space and a couple of eating joints to enjoy your time munching snacks on the top of the hill.
Karla and Bhaja Caves: Explore the ancient Buddhist rock-cut caves of Karla and Bhaja, known for their intricate carvings and historical significance.
Lonavala Lake: Stroll around Lonavala Lake, enjoy boating, or relax by the serene waters.
Trek to Lohagad Fort: Embark on a trek to Lohagad Fort, another historic hill fort offering stunning views and a glimpse into the region’s rich history.
