Budapest : Beautiful city on Hungarian Land

As you all may know, Budapest is Hungary’s capital and a stunning city known for its beautiful architecture and vibrant culture. There are numerous places to explore in Budapest, but here’s a list of the top 6 places that you must go. And even I made sure to visit these places when I was there. 

The top one on this list is the thermal bath because that is simply the most important part of your Budapest vacation. Thermal bath in Budapest is claimed to have medicinal properties along with some good times. Budapest is famous for its thermal baths and there are multiple thermal baths to get you immersed in the thermal bath experience. Undoubtedly, the Szechenyi Baths are the most famous baths in Budapest and the largest too but you can explore other options.

Ticket booking must be done in advance using an online website as it is difficult to get last-minute tickets on peak days. I went to Rudas Bath or Rudas fürdő and had the most magnificent time of my life. Relaxed in the thermal pools, soaked in the healing waters, and enjoyed the grand architecture of Budapest. It’s a unique Budapest experience.

Situated on a hill overlooking the city, Buda Castle is a symbol of Budapest. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit this place to explore the Budapest History Museum and the Hungarian National Gallery. Enjoy the panoramic views of the Danube River, and walk through the streets of the Buda Castle District.

To reach Buda Castle I suggest you catch Budapest Castle Hill Funicular it’s so amazing that you can ride up in a few minutes while enjoying the panoramic view of Budapest city. Also, it saves some walking time.  Once you reach above it will be a breathtaking view of Budapest. There is also a small coffee shop/ cafe on the top where you enjoy some hot drinks. 

Tip: You have to walk a lot in this Castle so make sure to have your comfortable shoes on.

This magnificent lighted building is one of the largest parliamentary buildings in the world. It’s an architectural masterpiece, especially when illuminated at night. Guided tours are available to explore its eye-catching interior and stunning Crown Jewels.

I reached pretty late in the evening so I could not take the inside tour of Parliament but I am sure it’s worth going inside. It looks stunning in the dark. To be honest my camera doesn’t justify the actual beauty of this place in the evening.

You can also admire Budapest with the Danube River sightseeing cruise. Passing through famous bridges, Buda Castle, and panoramic city views will make a memorable time for you.

Located near Buda Castle, Fisherman’s Bastion offers some of the best panoramic views of Budapest. This fairytale-like terrace features seven spiral-shaped lookout towers and decorative sidewalks. It’s an excellent spot for photos and enjoying the cityscape.

This place has considerable shops for souvenirs and also some food cafes, so it’s possible to grab a bite and admire the beauty of the city.

The Fisherman’s Bastion is most famous for its beautiful panoramic views it provides. I would recommend you go in the evening so you can enjoy the sunset views. I am sure it would be incredible.

St. Stephen’s Basilica

Dedicated to Hungary’s first king, St. Stephen’s Basilica is a stunning example of neoclassical architecture. Visitors can take an elevator to the dome for another fantastic viewpoint or admire the interior, including the impressive hand of St. Stephen.

St.Stephen’s Basilica is located in the city center. The church remains open from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. On Saturdays, it’s 9 am to 1 pm & on Sundays from 1 pm to 5 pm. The entrance to the Basilica is free, visit to the dome is ticket based but it only opens in spring and autumn months. To reach the Church József nádor tér is the closest train station. Please check the local transport app for all the other routes and schedules. 

The Chain Bridge is not only a crucial transportation link connecting Buda and Pest, but it’s also a symbol of Budapest. Walk or drive across this historic suspension bridge, which looks particularly enchanting when illuminated in the evening. You can capture incredible views of the city from here.
